Finding Inspiration
Finding Inspiration | February 2021
I truly find design inspiration everywhere! My favorite source of inspiration is travel. I skipped town last week for a quick trip for a client project and it was just what I needed. With travel more limited lately, I've also found great sources of inspiration online and piling through a few new books. As we start the new year, I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.
Online @M.o.matches On Instagram I love when I find something that is out of the box (no pun intended) and that I have never seen before. Maura Endres is the artist behind these one of a kind matchbox creations which use scraps of old wall paper, pictures, etc. They are exquisite and make the perfect gift especially when paired with a yummy smelling candle.
Rita Konig’s Course On Create Academy I am totally crushing on the British designer, Rita Konig, right now. I recently took her interior design course offered by Create Academy online. She takes you through the process of renovating and decorating her own farmhouse in the English countryside - perfect for anyone embarking on a decorating project and just pure eye candy!
Travel One of my greatest sources for design inspiration is travel. I just got back from a quick trip to Birmingham, Alabama and came away completely inspired and excited about all of my great nds. I wanted to share a few with you in case you are planning a getaway. I love to garden so our rst stop had to be SHOPPE. It is like heaven for someone like me. I got some great ideas for my spring garden and a color scheme for a new project I'm working on.
For the home, you must visit Design Supply. I found so many unique accessories and the art is to die for.
Hiltz Lauber is a go-to destination for pretty carpet and lighting but they also have some gorgeous antiques sprinkled in. Details in Mountain Brook Village is perfectly curated with everything in black and white.
After a long and productive day of shopping, we celebrated with a French 75 and dinner at Bottega Cafe. The patio was perfect despite the chilly weather!
Reading Over the holidays, I poured through several new books. Tom Scheerer's most recent book, More Decorating, is a must for anyone's design library and makes a beautiful coffee table book. I love to cook and have found some wonderful Italian inspired recipes in A Table for Friends. It is a guide for entertaining small or large groups and I can't wait to use it for a future dinner party!
I hope you have found some inspiration of your own from what I have shared in my first newsletter of 2021. I am excited about this new year and the projects I have on deck. If you would like some help with your new or existing home projects, please reach out. I would love to help you take your inspiration and make it a reality in your home.
Until next time,
- Ann
